UK Scrambles
Elbow Ridge-Winnats Pass

Elbow Ridge Diff is a graded rock climb but very easy fo the grade & despite getting 1* it shows no sign of polish.

Car parking is allowed on the road from Castleton before the LH turnoff to Winnats Pass & Speedwell caverns. Walk up past the Cattlegrid, Elbow Ridge is on the North Side of the Pass & clearly visable when approached from Castleton. Grid Ref SK 135826 The start of the route is 5 metres from the road & strts of up a slabby buttress.

This leads onto an impressive & crest, in windy conditions you may feel safer crossing this a cheval. The next section is another slabby buttress leading finishing to the left. This route is a contender for the best scramble in the Peak District & can be combined with its neighbour Matterhaorn ridge & an ascent of Mam Tor.
