Strans Gill

This is an excellent scramble in a relatively dry mini limestone gorge. Best approach is to walk from Hubberholme towards Yockenthwaite. The start of the gill is obvious. The scrambling is suprisingly good and interesting, up to Grade 2/3. There is one Diff pitch where a fall could be serious, to avoid this pitch bear to the right. The Diff pitch is best climbed in the left corner and I would advise donning a pair of climbing shoes and throwing your rucksack/hiking boots over the top. The pitch is only 3 moves but should NOT be attempted unless you are a competent lower grade rock climber. The scramble ends at a stone bridge. A real gem of a scramble!
